Ideas

If you have any tips on planning the wedding, food at the wedding, wedding favors, honeymoon spots, invitations, ANYTHING, I would love all the advice I can get. I've never done this before ;)
Thanks!

  1. Ohhhh I love planning weddings!!!!!!! But I'm not that good at it lol. My only bit of advice is to consider having an afternoon reception instead of the evening, for a few reasons. First, if you are renting a venue, it's cheaper (and since you are getting married in the off-season, it will be EVEN CHEAPER!!) Second, getting married in the morning, doing pictures, having a lunch or break, then going to your reception until who knows how late can make for a very long and tiring day. And you don't want to be exhausted on your wedding night. We had an afternoon reception (11-3ish) and were in our hotel by 4. Seriously, it was so much better than standing in a never ending line until 11 at night.
Also, splurge on a good photographer. I have a great recommendation if you need one--she's the one who does all our pictures and she's done several weddings lately. She's really, really good!
And be careful not to overestimate the amount of cake you will need... we ate leftover cake for months afterwards.

  2. Ooh, Kate...excellent tips! I like the afternoon idea too (if the wedding is early enough) because there will be travelers and that will give them the ability to be home before 2 a.m....ha! And definitely we want a good photographer...smart thinking!

  3. Oh yeah, I forgot to tell you the bad part about an earlier reception... our sealing was at 7:40 in the morning :/

  4. We went on a cruise for our honeymoon and it was the greatest thing ever! It is so easy because you get to go to a few different spots and you also don't have to worry about figuring out where to eat every night and stuff. It was so so fun. Oh and it wasn't too expensive either.

  5. Oh and if you're taking engagement pictures and you're taking them in Utah have Matt Clayton take them. Seriously he's the best. And he's super cheap. But awesome.
