p.s. I am so excited to eat when I get done w/ this class in a couple hours. Yum. p.s.s. I'm ultra excited because I might be seeing a certain someone Wednesday instead of having to wait till next week. AH, life is good. p.s.s.s. Marathon training is going well :) We woke up and ran 3.5 miles @ 5:30 this morning. I had a scowl on my eyebrows as I left the door and a smile and handful of sweat on my way back in. xoxoI'mgnawingonmyhand

  2. Yay for running at 5:30! It's always the worst thing ever to get going that early...but it sure feels good once you're done and the rest of the day you feel so accomplished! And tired... But we'll blame that part on other things. The book I read and followed for training was by Jeff Galloway. He's run a million marathons but developed this thing called the walk-run...the "Galloway program". You see lots of runners doing this during the race. It sounds kind of woosie but really it's not! And it's way better for your body and can actually improve your time! I loved it. So basically what I did was anything over 10 miles I would do the 'walk run'. Every nine minutes you walk for one minute. You can do any increment of time but that makes it easy to keep track because you always start running on the 10s again. Does that make sense? Anyways, if you're interested the book will convince you that it's the way to go! I didn't really follow much of a program during the week...just did my normal 5 mile runs 3 days of the week and then a long one on saturday. The long ones you alternate...10, then 12, then 10, then 14, then 10, then 16. Basically every other week you increase by 2. Also, the days that you're not running during the week you're supposed to do some sort of cross-training...but I never did. So that's that. Map out how many weeks you have and see how it fits. You never actually run the full 26. I think the highest I got in training was 22...and that's plenty. Let me know if you have questions! And Syd can always ask me too! Good luck!

  3. I can't even imagine running like that! Rachel, I hope you ALWAYS have a partner when it is so early in the AM. Too many bad stories out there! Good luck on your training!
