It's Fire Time!

Wes is amazing. He just is.
He is a seriously hard worker who loves hard labor jobs.
He is as strong as an ox. & bench presses me. It's cool.
He has a smile that lights up a whole room, not just me.
He's working so hard in school and doing a great job, & it is not his strong point, but he's excelling!
He's the greatest support.
We work together well.
I whine at him. & he is still nice.

Anyways, he's awesome.

Last week we went to Vegas. It was my first time.  I was so nervous & please don't judge but I have never had any desire to go there. The whole name "Sin City" is strangely unappealing to me...

However, my parents were coming to town for Spencie to go through the temple on Saturday & my dad had a business trip to Vegas that week.  My mom had a voucher with Frontier & decided to join Pops for an early vacation in Vegas then travel up to Provo Friday night.  Weston was so excited for them & it was his spring break. & I haven't used any vacation days since I became full time here in August of last year.  My vacation time doesn't accrue very rapidly, so these days are gold to me.

I save them up for one purpose: to spend time with my immediate family from TN, because I never get to see them & let's be honest, I haven't visited TN since Christmas 2010. I have not been home in over a year. It breaks my heart!

Anyways, so in honor of the sweet hubs DYING to have a cool spring break & not work the whole time & just go back to school we decided to present my parents with an awesome plan of us joining them in Vegas!  They thought it was great! I ended up being sick last week. I was bummed, but it ended up perfect, because I had to take a sick day & we were able to go to Vegas early! I didn't take any pictures while we were there..but my mom did, so I'll try to steal them & post them on here! Also, that city was really cool! It is a lot cleaner than New York was, & a lot less crowded!  However, I was not a fan of the awful pictures strewed across the street. I was disgusted. But we got to tour everything & my cousin Jeff came to see us twice while we were down there. He is stationed at the Air Force base there in town & then on our way back to Utah we went to Henderson to visit my aunt, uncle & cousins over there!  It was so good to see everyone!

We stayed at the MGM Grand & wow that place was loco. The whole base floor had shops & a giant casino & restaurants & all sorts of things, I have never been in such a huge hotel! btw, we stayed on the 28th floor...!

We hit some GREAT outlet shops & the hubs is now looking quite handsome in his new clothes!

Saturday was Spencie's endowment session. It was so special & afterwards we had an awesome family gathering at Aunt Mary's where 8 of my dad's 15 siblings all came & their significant others, kids, etc. It was so fun. & so crazy just like family gatherings always are.  Oh my amazing & outrageous family.  & so many belly laughs. Good golly!

We went to see War Horse that night at Movies 8. It was so good! Sunday we went to Spencie's ward & I discovered corn starch is a fantastic replacement for baby powder or dry shampoo for those days you just don't have time to wash the hair!  That night we had our birthday celebration! Dani's birthday was the 10, Spencie's came up on the 21 & Wes' is on the 31.  It was so fun! We had ice cream & Killer Brownies.

Nom.  Monday I worked & then Momma & I went to an adorable quilt shop in Springville. I fell in love. I will be buying all quilting fabric from there. & then some!

I'm sorry for the neglect folks, it makes for big long wordy updates.

I will sum this one up quickly,
WE ARE SO BLESSED!

The BYU Accountant program students did our taxes. For free. Amazing.

Also, there were issues with the Forest Service Program & it sent Weston's application to Louisiana & Mississippi, but not to Spanish Fork.

We've been waiting & waiting to hear if he got the job or atleast an interview.  Joe had to wait on a lot of stuff from the higher-ups.  So it was just a waiting game. While in Vegas, Joe called Wes & informed him that his application wasn't in the applicant pull for a GS-4 which is what Weston is on the Federal Pay scale.  So, Joe wrote the Forest Service people & told them about the situation. Wes also called head-quarters in Albuquerque and they opened a case about the application going to the wrong place. We then found out he could be hired more likely as a GS-3.  I was so sad, because Weston wanted this job SO bad. He loves his squad & the intensity they bring.  He still wanted to do it as a GS-3. So then began the praying & waiting process to hear about the  news from the Forest Service's decision.

Joe called Wes yesterday & informed him that he got the spot as a GS-4.
WE ARE SO BLESSED.

Wes texted it to me because he was in his EMT class when Joe called, but I called him right away & that boy was so giddy telling me about getting the job & Joe's phone call.

Anyway we are constantly being blessed left & right!

It's extremely busy around our parts! I've started decorating our house & hanging things (finally)! & Weston's been studying long during the day & working late into the night at the house in Salem that he's working on remodeling for a guy. It's pretty awesome & is looking really good! Weston is so good at that stuff! He comes  home with the white hair & eyebrows & eyelashes & spackle smeared across his cheek. It's cute.
We are loving having a washer & dryer. It's a welcomed new feature of our casa!

Also, Weston is working on his Paramedic program application that is due next week. He's been collecting the letters of recommendation & filling out his application.  It's a lot of work, but he's handling it well!

Blessings as of late:
Wes got his job back on squad 8-1 this season.
He will be able to get 15 credits of school work done w/ his fire job this summer.
10 for his internship & 5 with 2 other courses online that he'll be doing on top of that.
We use our washer & dryer all the time.
We almost have his Paramedic Program application all done.  Please send prayers our way, we're reeeally trying to get into the fall program.
My medical insurance rocks & my surgery in May should be (hopefully) not too expensive.
My job has amazing benefits as much as I tease that I get bored because of all the down time I get here.
Our landlords are extremely nice.
I wake up to the sound of geese.
I have a husband that treats me like the best thing in his life.
The sun has been shining lately.
Weston is doing SO well in school (including math!)
Wes has found a job that just might be THE dream one. Second to SEALs, of course. It's being a medic for the Nashville SWAT team being contracted out through the Nashville Fire Dept.

Sorry about lagging in the blogging department & the picture department! I have some pictures from the past weekend that I can put up! & next weekend is Weston's birthday so I'll take pictures of that, too! :D

  2. Rachel, this is all such good news! I was so sad in Vegas when Wes was frustrated and sad about the possible downgrade on his summer job and it's obvious his boss-man LOVES him to work so hard to get him back! Proud of Weston and LOVE your blessings list! You have a boat-load! Also love Keri's sweet comment above! She, like you, is a treasure!! xoxox
