It's birthday time in 303!

So, the lovely Sydney Marne Schindler is 21 today. This girl is my second half. Let me fill you in on some of her goodness, that I'm sure you already are aware of. 1. She is the most loyal friend. 2. She has the greatest & weirdest sense of humor. That's why we get along. 3. She is the toughest girl I know. She can take the cold. The pain. The intensity. This girl can handle it all. 4. She has the greatest sense of style. Something I've always admired & a talent I've NEVER had. This girl can take the weirdest things and make them look snazzy. 5. This girl is the most amazing artist & photographer. She can make anyone look good. She has the hand of Michelangelo. 6. She's just as much of a night owl as me. 7. She is beautiful on the inside & out. This girl has a solid knowledge of Jesus Christ & she has the most profound insight. 8. She's the most bomb cook ever! This girl says it's her mom with the gift, but it must be genetic. She knows what herbs and spices taste good together. Give her a chicken and some peppers and in 20 minutes you will have a masterpiece. 9. She's the best aunt I know. She's not the hugest fan of kids, but she loves her nephews more than the sun & she loves spoiling them! No chocolate is not in her aunt vocab. 10. She's German. Her sweet mom will send German chocolate in care packages or cute little German things. It's great Basically, Sydney is one amazing girl and my serious soul-sister. I've never laughed or cried so much with one person. We have had some serious weird experiences together & some seriously hilarious experiences together. She makes me laugh so hard. She is really good at telling stories & loves telling stories. She always listens or acts like she's listening to my stories, which makes her a saint, because I am terrible at it. She is empathetic and patient, however doesn't put up with crap. She always gives the benefit of the doubt & does a great job at listening to both sides of every story. She is very forgiving and understanding with people. I love Sydney. She has been the greatest roomate for 3 years. I will miss her next year when she'll be married to my other best friend, but I couldn't be happier for her. My little girl is growing up. Happy 21st Syd!

4 Eyes.

I have had glasses since first grade and probably have needed them since birth.
I am legally blind. Literally without my glasses or contacts I wouldn't be able to make it from the bathroom to my bed. Thank you modern technology! & Dr. Neiber, who wears those horrendous-looking, calf-strengthening sketchers shoes. Don't worry, they're completely black, so it's more discrete. nope. Spence & I diiiied when we saw them over Christmas break. Well anyway, I got a shiny new pair of glasses that arrived in the mail today! Hoorah! Look Momma, you like? xoxothreeblindmice

They Arrived!

The shoelaces came! The huge box was TOTALLY necessary. Check, check, check it out! All laced up baby! I look like a Nike icon...hmm.
xoxoletspraytheankleheals! p.s.I've been having bad Achilles Tendenitis. It sucks and I've only done 2 out of my 4 runs this week. I'm starting to become depressed. P.p.s. I have 2 burns on my shoulder from curing my hair...I should probably win some sort of award for that.

Some things I LOVE.

Happy Valentine's Day everyone! I love holidays! Even though I'm single (again) today, I still love it. It makes me sad when people are bitter on Valentine's day. Any holiday is still something to celebrate! I thought I'd make a post in honor of Valentine's Day and write some of the things I love! A New Found Passion.

I couldn't decide on what I wanted to do with my life. I'm talkin about career jazz, not the other stuff. I changed my major about 27 times. Nursing? Grades won't allow it. Special Ed? The legal stuff scared me. Marriage? Uhm, I still think it'd be so fun, but didn't suit me. Nursing? Grades still won't allow it. Health Science? Grad school not so appealing right now. Public Health? What's that? I had never considered Public Health, because I didn't even know what it was. Even after I signed up for it I didn't really know what it was still. I just thought, 'It's health related, doesn't require grad school, & I can still help people. Sounds good to me!' I was nervous that I wouldn't like it, but I was running out of GE's to fill up my time. I started my major classes last semester & fell in LOVE with my major. I still think it's the greatest major offered at BYU. I chose the Health Promotion Track! My dream is to work for a non-profit org in Africa to help battle the HIV/AIDs epidemic. How do we do that? Awareness. Education. I came across the Nike (RED) campaign & fell in love. They sell Red Shoelaces that coincide with the campaign, the profits of the shoelaces are all given straight to the ARV medications that help treat the symptoms of AIDs. While training for my marathon I have been finding little things along the way that are symbolic to me that will be a part of me during my 26.2 mile stretch. I will be wearing these laces on Race day. Do you want to support the cause & provide medications to those who cannot afford them? Go here to learn more about the campaign & go here to purchase some sweet laces.

Forgot

I don't know how I forgot about my favorite ad of the whole superbowl. Whoops. Shoutout to google. xoxwishIwasthefrenchgirl!

Sad to say..

...the superbowl commercials were not that impressive today. No money to spend on advertisement crew bc of recession? Maybe. There's a guy doing origami in the waiting room right now. Anyway, back to the superbowl ad soapbox. They weren't that great, but I loved the Denny's commercials. They probably played 5 or 6 times, and by the end of the last one, I was crying. I loved the chicken's screams!

Detox

Ever done it? Awesome process! An unnamed roomate decided to do this last year and 'clean' her system. All she ingested for a week was juice. Healthy? No. But she's kinda the radical type anyway. She spent a long time in a certain room in our apartment. Sometimes we'd hear screams. We learned to ignore them. It was probably the funniest thing of my life. Anyway, I'm starting my detoxification now, nope not the prune juice kind, a different kind. It feels good. xoxopeaceandchickengrease

Dopplegangling

So, this new facebook fad is going around, change your facebook picture to a picture of a famous person people have said you look like.
I usually get that I have the hair of this girl...
...the bone structure of this girl...
...the body of this girl...
...and the smile of this girl.
No, I know you were fooled, but I was kidding.
I do not have a dopplefinger, dopplarradar, doppleganger.
Who do you think I look like?
I mean, who do you think looks like me?
In case you don't know what I look like, here's a picture for reference.
xoxocelebrities,whatarethose?
p.s. I cannot seem to master sunless tanning, seen the wedding planner? Yeah, sometimes I turn out like that. Every time I do the lotion I try something different to avoid the streaks I got the LAST time I used it...and then I just end up w/ different designs of lines. HELP!

Want this bed?

Not sure how I feel about it, but it's definitely unique!

Uneventful & very eventful.
This weekend was long, fun, slow, sometimes painful, relaxing, homework-filled(again) and it was nice to have the break from the crazy weekdays! Friday... went grocery shopping, did homework and hung out with dirty-D (Diana). It was so nice catching up w/ her & I yakked the poor girl's ear off. Saturday morning I did some homework then met up w/ the Brinks @ University Mall. Saturday night I went and watched my roomate Jessica's HumorU performance, she did awesome! Then I went and met some friends @ Sammy's & then we went and hung out w/ some guys in a band at the Muse. I forgot to turn my phone off silent and woke up Sunday mornin when church started. Due to my speed skills, I was there before the first talk started. I visit taught, got hometaught and did more homework. Thrilling.
In the past 2 weeks I have written 12 2-page, single-spaced papers for Consumer Health. I am done, but my brain is too. & I am now going on my 5th week in the phone room. I'm kinda goin crazy at work. Weston teases me for talking a lot.. but this job just might drive me to a vow of silence!

I am going to do this!

Okay, so my marathon training consists of 4 days of running. I get to pick what days of the week I do them, but there are 3 shorter days and one long run. They suggest that a day break is left before and after the long run. I have found myself doing my first 3 shorter runs on MTW and then Friday after work doing my long run, because it's the warmest midday here, usually in the 30s :). This weeks training was Day 1: 3 miles Day 2: 5 miles Day 3: 3 miles Day 4: 8 miles My training began January 4. I wrote all my training in my planner next to my homework. When I saw the big numbers next to the runs I kind of wanted to vomit. I have NEVER been a runner. The furthes before this that I could run straight was a mile. & I had to train up to that. So my runs were getting better and better, I've been averaging about 10min/mile. I still however, could just run about a mile then I'd walk a block or two then run and then walk, so I'd run faster, but need to walk. I decided after Tuesday's 5 miler that killed me, to slow it down on my Wed. 3 miler. I slowed it down and did really good, I stopped once because of traffic. So, I decided to see how I could do on my 8 miler if I slowed it down. Okay everyone, I ran the whole 8 miles and walked for maybe 3 blocks. It was incredible. When I say run, we're talking about a slow run/jog thing, but the idea is that I didn't stop. I am so elated! I can do this marathon! The reality of it set in yesterday. I couldn't be happier with myself. This whole marathon experience has been life changing already. I can do what I never dreamed of doing. I remember a specific conversation my mom and I had a few years back. Some lady in our ward did a marathon. I remember telling her there's no way in my life I could EVER do a marathon. She said, "yeah, well...wait, no, yes you could, you could do a marathon." I thought, yeah okay. & folks here I am pushing myself through the snow and freezing air to go running 4 times a week to train for a marathon. I'm so happy right now and empowered. xoxoseeyouatthecountrymusicmarathon!

Defeating the purpose.

I hate these trash cans.
At the restrooms in work these are essentially the kind of trash cans we have. Except, ours are plastic. You know the one I'm talkin about? Anyway, I always HATE pushing the flap to throw away the paper towel I used to dry my hands after washing them. What good does it do for me to wash my hands and then have to push open the spring loaded flap of a trashcan to throw away the towel? None. & I am an avid handwasher folks. I have thought about this every day I have worked here for the past year + a couple months. I now deem it bloggable. I want to put out a public policy that will remove these trashcans. or the flap.
xoxogerms, yum.

Obessions are healthy, right?

This video has so many great elements. I'm a fan of the sweet jamaican kid with the whiteboy mohawk. I have a secret crush on him. The lyrics are amazing. & the song is awesome. They could have done without a couple of the male dancers that just stood there looking tool-ish. & the 4,000 18 yr old pelvic thrusts. Excessive? Maybe. However, this is the greatest thing ever. The video makes me laugh & smile & the song is awesome. Watch the vid & rate it the highest & subscribe to that kid's videos. These are the coolest freshman BYU has to offer in my book. xoxoI'munderajamaicanpersuasion
